The Howell’s Lecture Programme 2019-20 got off to a flying start on Thursday 10th September. Students from Years 12 and 13 were joined by Hywelian Lucy Jenkins from the School of Modern Languages at Cardiff University. Lucy talked about her experiences of studying abroad in Italy as part of her degree on the Erasmus programme, and how studying languages had opened up a whole new world to her. She also shared details of the projects she is involved in with schools and universities, supporting language provision. A lively Q & A session completed the event, with students considering, for example, how Brexit might affect cultural exchange programmes.
Our next lecture is scheduled for the 26th September when we will be joined by Professor Jeremy Strong, University of West London to talk about the adaptation of literature for the big screen.
