On Tuesday 8th October, we were fortunate to be joined by Karen Kimura from the GDST for the next event in the Howell’s Lecture Programme. Karen spoke to our Year 12 students about her experience of starting up a sushi business in London with her husband. The students were challenged to think about all the ‘hidden’ costs of running a business and the impact of outside factors on business, such as Brexit, terrorism, availability of suitably experienced sushi chefs and suppliers of quality produce. Karen talked about accounting, advertising, running costs and creating a viable business plan. This was an excellent, interactive session and we look forward to welcoming Karen back to the College later in the year.
