Carols in Llandaff Cathedral 2018

It was a crisp and clear winter day on Tuesday 11th December as the services of nine lessons and carols took place in the stunning surroundings of Llandaff Cathedral. The Carol Services, which are always a highlight of the Howell’s calendar, were the first large scale musical events for our new Director of Music, Mrs Clouter, and what a triumph they were.  The congregations were treated to stellar performances from the College Choir, Orchestra, Senior Choir, Wind Ensemble and Youth Choir. Mr Thomas pulled out simply all the stops while accompanying the congregational carols, which reached the highest points of the cathedral roof. In the afternoon, girls from Years 5 and 6 gave us lovely performances of Tawel Nos and Hey!. During the evening the JCC (Junior Competition Choir) entertained everyone with rousing renditions of Tomorrow Shall be my Dancing Day and Do You Hear What I Hear. Students, staff and governors read the nine lessons and we are very grateful to them all. Thank you to Mrs Clouter, Mrs Rees, Miss Bowden, Mr Beckett, Mr Cheeke, Mr Thomas and all the staff and students involved.
