Why study this subject?

The WJEC GCE AS and A level qualification in Digital Technology will advance students' understanding of the digital technologies that are used by individuals and organisations across the world, including how they have developed and how they continue to change. The qualification enables students to develop a deep understanding of how innovations in digital technology, and the increasing levels of connectivity between them, impact the lives of those who use them and the wider society.

Students will also develop practical skills in both creative digital products and digital solutions to problems faced by organisations, supporting their progression into employment in a career that utilises digital technologies or onto a programme of higher education involving digital technologies. At AS level the NEA will focus on the end-to-end creation of a game whilst at A2 level the NEA will focus on the creation of a transactional website lined to a server based relational database management system.

What can I do with Digital Technology?

Digital Technology is an integral part of everyday life and most occupations rely on a range of technologies to function efficiently. The qualification can prepare students to study undergraduate courses in website design, game design, cyber security, computer science, information systems, engineering, electrical engineering, business studies and surveying at University. In addition, there are a wide range of apprenticeships available in software, web, telecoms and creative digital media.
