Year 12 student Megan V spent the day at the National Assembly for Wales on Tuesday 26th March as part of the LeadHerShip19 programme from Chwarae Teg, which is designed to inspire the next generation of female leaders. Along with other young women from across Wales, Megan was given a tour of the Senedd building, and enjoyed a talk from Deputy Presiding Officer, Ann Jones AM, about the importance of women in the Assembly and why we should keep encouraging young women to take an interest in politics. The students also took part in an inspiring panel discussion with Leanne Wood AM, Suzy Davies AM and Dawn Bowden AM, and for their last session of the day, they took part in a mock debate on the topic: ‘Why do we still celebrate International Women’s Day?’. Megan was delighted to be given such fabulous opportunity, which was equal parts inspiring, challenging and exciting.
